JimMaryAnnAllDressedUp2008.jpgWelcome friends!
and Aloha...
Have you ever thought about doing something really radical and out of the ordinary?

Well, we did it -

In October 2008, we moved to Kailua Kona, Hawai'i...to the Big Island of Hawai'i. Life has not been the same in any way shape or form. The Lord is moving in new and powerful ways in our lives and we have come to the realization that moving to Kona was a bigger plan of God than we thought. We were led to an amazing church called Calvary Community Church, and immediately found relationships with many people there.  Sometimes our Kahu (pastor) preaches bare foot, that's when you know you are in Hawai'i!  Whenever I think of our church I get a surge of great joy in my heart.

It is soooo amazing here in Kona, the time we spend at the ocean's edge, seem so surreal... so uplifting... so anointed.  There is something very healing about the waves and the sound that they bring forth, it is very powerful.  Sometimes your mind, body and emotions just need a break!

Jim, my husband is now stylin' in Hawaiian shirtsCool  which I think is very cool!  Oh wait! they are called "Aloha Shirts". Keep checking in as we keep you updated on our big adventure...
  • If you have not read my 'doodles' page or
  • my continuing moving experience story, please sit down with a cup of your favorite beverage and enjoy.
  • In April 2009 I wrote
"Five Opportunities - Right now!" inspired by the Lord. The very next Sunday pastor preached on the topic of 'Clustering'...what perfect timing! It must mean the Lord has it on His mind, I love that.

We are in a journey toward a ministry, so please keep us in your prayers.

RileyAtCoffeeShack.JPG"On our Hearts"

First, let me introduce you to Riley.  She is my sweetness... some places here in Kona are mostly outdoors, so we get to take her in with us.  She is such a good girl, everyone enjoys her. She is waiting for her lunch, we are at  The Coffee Shack.  They have homemade bread ... ohhhh ... they have one called Luau bread ... ummmm my fav! and of course, 100% Kona Coffee.

In May of 2009 the Lord showed us that we have a new purpose for being in Kona! The Lord is slowly putting together a plan for us, and we are excited to share the thought...

For now we are calling it "The Hiding Place".  It will be a facility that is a sanctuary of rest, renewal, and submission to the Lord. The Hiding Place will facilitate personal retreats between Jesus and those who serve Him in full time ministry such as Pastors, Missionaries, Prophets and Apostles.  Hiding Place is a result of Holy Spirit's design, development and ongoing work...
As never before the Lord's rest and empowerment are needed by His servants. It is a "ministry of rest" to those that need it the most.

Such rest and empowerment only occurs through the work of His Holy Spirit and through deep spiritual 'surgery', healing and refreshing. The Lord is calling His servants apart from the world in new ways and is giving new life, new assignments and new vision to each.

Please pray for us as we step out and claim the land for this purpose... we are looking for the property that will accomodate our vision. The land will also have 'hiding places' designed to bring together nature, quietness and healing.

Our ministry needs givers, sponsors that will give the funds needed to purchase and run The Hiding Place, so servants of the Lord will be able to stay with us for free.

We believe that the 'gift' of refreshing and renewal received by our guests will be 'priceless' to their lives. Since it will be a gift that will allow them to come and stay for free, they will know that the Lord provided for them a place to hide in Him.

Also, if you know someone who could use some time 'hiding in the Lord' please pray for them and feel free to contact us now, there are already places here in Kona they could stay for free as God works it out.

We love you, Aloha, and may God richly bless you.

ShoppingAtAliiGardensMarketplaceOut and About Kona...

There are so many wonderful things to do here in Kailua Kona, Hawai'i.
The Ali'i Gardens Marketplace  is a great shopping experience. As you meandor through the cluster of small huts along the winding paths it is easy to enjoy the unique tropical ambiance. You'll find watercolor art in cards and wall hangings, jewelry, fragrant soaps that you can take home and enjoy. In the picture I am picking out a handmade flower for my hair. They also have great sandals, gotta have comfort for your daytime adventures.  Click on the link for a map and more info.

Movie Time!

There are two nice movie theatres here in Kona, one on each end of town. I love the artsy architectural trims they put on various buildings around town.

MovieTime! It's always warm in Hawai'i even when it rains... some evenings in the traditional winter months, you might think about putting an extra layer of something on, but usually just in the upper elevation.  You can almost always count on wearing summer clothes - all year long. My new wardrobe is shorts, sandals, Capri's, sleeveless tops (that I never used to wear!), and lots of suntan lotion when I go to the beach.

BostonBasilsKona.JPG
Wanting some awesome pizza?  Boston Basil's Italian - is across the street from the ocean.  This wonderful casual Italian eatery is cozy, fun and Michael the owner always seems to be there personally greeting all the customers as they enjoy the wonderful food. We love it!

HonoLuluKonaBeach

This is sweet Honu Lulu, she is a Honu on one the the Kona beaches. This beach is more secluded than some of them, we have been on the hunt for wonderful places to enjoy the ocean and have found a few very special ones.  This is in August 2009.

AvocadoInKonaHawaii.JPG

The Avocados in Hawaii are large but not all this large! Look how small my hand is next to it, that was a good dinner avocado! We love all the fruit amd veggies here... papaya, mangos, peppers, and so much more...

NaturesUmbrellaInKona.JPG

This unusual tree top is just the size of a big umbrella and located on my favorite beach.  Since I seem to burn easily even with sunblock lotion, I love this tree.

Aloha Tree!
