How wonderful is that? we thought! Just in the tick tock of time! He made the call, he would see them soon. So off he went to O’ahu. When he arrived everything was going as planned... until he got to the rental car company! They needed to have the credit card to process the release authorization.
What happened to telling us that at the time of the reservation? I guess we should have thought about that, but we didn’t.
We have a plan... Jesus has a plan!
Jim was alone. He called me and I encouraged him to find the bus. Let’s just say he was about to have an experience that he did not expect!
He was wearing shorts, a t-shirt and sandals. He had brought more formal clothes, but those clothes... "no need“ says the Lord, obviously! So as he drug his little suitcase behind him while running to the condo’s in the rain, he learned that God had this! He was perfectly on time, taking off his sandals entering the Managers residence that was ready for the new manager. Other applicants were engaged in conversation and then they went on a site tour. Jim saw that a lot of details that needed attention. He asked a few questions. He was very interested.
At the end of the interview, the other applicants left. They asked him to stay so they could interview him right then and there, since he had traveled from the Big Island.
So there he sat barefoot on the carpet and had an interview.
So Hawai’i, I love it!
That, right there, is just one of the things I love about Hawai’i. Aloha Shirts are real and are worn any day of the work week and weekends too. People wear flip flops and call each other Brah or Cousin or Auntie. That’s what they call me, Auntie. If the surf is up I’ll be late, we don’t surf, so no need. Pupu’s are little bites, you know, hors d’oeuvres. Then comes the Kalua Pork Plate ~ Ono‘ Grinds! The humidity is good for the skin, and I know the best Bar for a real Mai Tai, just sayin‘.
When Jim came home, he was tired but happy. We still had to wait, but hope was high and we knew Jesus was in complete control. I love his lists, makes me smile to feel so secure in Him. He’s got us!
The third garage sale was the best one, we were motivated and lots of people showed up despite the following:
The day before was Friday, March 11, 2011. On that day there was a 9.1 earthquake near Tokyo. It caused a 30 foot wave tsunami to hit Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i that damaged a big section of the downtown area and to each side. It was a mess.
The best youtube video is by Journeyman Pictures. Of course it was all over the news.
Thankfully for us, that did not distract people from coming up the hill a little and shopping our garage sale. The word was out that we had a bunch of Resort Robes for sale cheap, along with piles of towels and dinner napkins. One of the resorts was updating and we were at the right place at the right time to receive all these items for free. At the time I did not know that we would need the money so much. Jesus knew. So, we sold stuff and accomplished what we needed to do. Our angel friend was there too, sweet.
We did not know when we met her that she was going to be our angel.
I remember it clearly, the following Monday evening Jim received the phone call that we had been waiting for, he got the job! The condo Board Members were so happy!!! We were Happy!!!
We were so happy! Very happy! We had praise, jumping up and down, thankful hearts.
Then, there's always something, right?
Remember the money we had requested be sent in January and the other one in February? The money we had been waiting for? Well, we were still waiting... still waiting... from both sources! Waiting three months on one, over three weeks on the other! wow!
One regular check had come in along with the garage sale money, giving us just enough money to fly Jim over there and enough for both of us to eat. He left on March 21st, leaving me behind in the very strong hands of Jesus. Yep! Jesus had another list:) oh Amen!
